Midewin Fire Station

For this project, we were tasked with designing a fire station for the Midewin Hotshot Crew in Illinois. The Midewin Hotshot Crew had very specific programmatic needs so much of the project was focused on the development of the floor plan. The structure was also to be constructed with steel as its primary material which influenced the design greatly.

The inspiration for this project was taken from the imagery of grass blowing in the wind and the waves created by it. These waves are reflected through a glass curtain wall system supported by a steel beam structure which reflects the blades of grass.
